The Grade-II* listed classical Birkenhead Town Hall dominates Hamilton Square at the civic heart of Birkenhead. Built in 1887, the building's imposing clock tower looks over the largest collection of Grade I listed buildings outside of Trafalgar Square.
The Town Hall's Assembly Room is where the festival's headline performances will take place. The building's civic splendour will be the perfect backdrop for the artists at the top of the Future Yard 2019 bill to perform again, and will offer a unique experience to the audience, who rarely get to see inside such an ornate building.
As the oldest standing building on Merseyside, the Priory offers a unique insight into the town of Birkenhead and its historical and spiritual importance in the development of Wirral. Now surrounded by factory units and shipyards, the Priory is an oasis of calm in a busy world and affords unrivalled views of the river and surrounding area.
Performances will take place across a number of locations within the grounds of Birkenhead Priory, where history near and far loom impressively. The Priory was the base for the first ferry crossing over the Mersey, and the cranes of the nearby Cammell Laird shipyard tower over the site like eerie watchmen.
Wirral’s premier new music venue for emerging regional talent and national breakthrough artists, Bloom is one of the most exciting new additions to Birkenhead.
As well as hosting a co-working space and café (Bloom Coffee), Bloom is also home to The Open Door Centre, a groundbreaking charity offering support to young people around mental health.
Local scene cornerstone Gallagher's is an award-winning real ale pub situated on the corner of Hamilton Square, just a short walk from Birkenhead Town Hall. Decked in military memorabilia, the lively pub was, until recently, also home to an in-house barber shop.
The upstairs live room will host some of Future Yard's most raucous live performances. In 2017, Gallagher's got a taste of the Queen Zee experience, with a riotous headline show from the Birkenhead punk outfit cramming the crowds in.
