We are thrilled to be hosting Glasgow’s Philip Seth Campbell at Future Yard on Wednesday 18th October as he tours the UK in support of his brand new album City Lights (out on 1st September via Assai Records).

Sometimes you have to live it to sing it, and songwriter Philip Seth Campbell has certainly lived it. Praised for his ability to channel a primal Springsteen howl one moment, then evoke a tender Sam Cooke croon the next, the joy with Philip is in never quite knowing which musical alley he’ll wander up when the moment takes him.

Support on the night comes from Glaswegian songwriter Alice Faye.

An amalgamation of Philip Seth Campbell’s life and career up until this point, City Lights unfolds like a series of cinematic snapshots, captured in timeless technicolour. From the shimmery and synth-heavy, widescreen opener Magical West to plucky ballads like Break The Curse and Sober Boy and from the bluesy soulful title-track City Lights to riled-up and rocky Gut City Blues, Campbell traverses time and genre with a deft sense of musicality that glints and glimmers like an unearthed trove of deep-buried treasure.

And his songwriting? Honest, unflinching, yet somehow widescreen and cinematic. Imbued with an innate sense of musicality–and born with a voice so uniquely classic it’s impossible not to love – Campbell is quite simply a musician’s musician, and one who is now calling on past experience to look to the future. This is a man with stories to tell, and songs that need sung. Perhaps now more than ever.
