Zuzu - New Noise Club | Future Yard

Birkenhead’s own acclaimed singer-songwriter Zuzu headlines our first New Noise Club <18 event, fresh from the release of her debut album Queensway Tunnel and ahead of a packed summer of festival performances. She is joined by Astles And The Balloon Moon Orchestra and West Kirby’s The Room, in an event where we are partnering up with TexPop. Our own New Noise Music Centre group The Yard will also be performing at the show.

This show is the first of our Saturday afternoon dry bar shows for under-18s. These regular shows will feature special guest headliners alongside new merging local musicians in a perfect environment to get that first taste of live music. No adult tickets are available – tickets are open to under-18s and sixth form/college students only.

Tickets on sale now, priced at £4.

Zuzu – New Noise Club <18

We are thrilled to be launching NEW NOISE CLUB <18, a new monthly live music club for under-18s! Held on Saturday afternoons, New Noise Club <18 will host some of the most exciting new artists from the North West, while also showcasing young, emerging local talent.

We believe that live music should be accessible and available to all and New Noise Club <18 is here to provide a safe space for teenagers to experience live music. All shows are dry bar events, with no alcohol on sale. Tickets are only available to under 18s – or 6th Form / College students who have turned 18 this year – with no adult tickets available.

Ahead of the show, Zuzu said:

“It’s super important to be able to play under 18 shows in Birkenhead to get young people involved in the ever flourishing music scene we have here in Merseyside. It’s so cool to be able to provide a safe space for them to be able to make those first steps.”

In an added twist for this first New Noise Club <18, Zuzu, Astles and The Room have taken part in TexPop; a project with Wirral schools which has seen local students style the artists with up-cycled outfits, which they will perform in at the show. This eco school project looks at the environmental issues of fast fashion and instead promotes preloved textiles in the world of new young music.

Talking of the TexPop project, Zuzu said:

“It’s been so fun working with the gang on the TexPop fashion project. It’s so inspiring to see the younger generation really caring about the environment and about each other. It’s given me hope for the future!”

The first New Noise Club <18 will be opened by The Yard, fresh from forming at Future Yard’s NEW NOISE MUSIC CENTRE! Held every Saturday morning, New Noise Music Centre is an opportunity for teenagers to experiment across a range of instruments and music-making techniques. Guitar, bass, keyboards, drums, DJ and rap sessions are led by our team of hugely experienced and passionate tutors. Participants also get a chance behind the mixing desk and get to grips with live sound and lighting. New Noise Music Centre opens up again in September 2022.
