Inspired by the Flatstock movement of American poster artists, Wirral-based print studio Toucan Tango have garnered an international reputation in recent years, producing iconic gig posters for artists such as Daughter, Dinosaur Jr, Parquet Courts, Tame Impala and White Denim.
For Future Yard 2019, they will be curating IN BLOOM; an exhibition of their own work and that of two of their favourite contemporaries, Luke Drozd (London) and Rainbow (Leipzig).
Luke is a London-based artist and maker. As a child, he spent hours in his room listening to records and scribbling away, and then discovered punk and began making music and artwork for his own band. Thirteen years later, Luke “accidentally has a career”. His unique style and range of practice has seen him establish himself as one of the UK’s foremost poster artists.
Leipzig based Rainbow is an artist collective made up of Falk Schwalbe and Hannes Hirche. They have been visualising music through their high quality screen print posters since 2008. Their collaboration began as a study project at Burg Giebichenstein and they have since gone on to establish their own print studio in Leipzig, producing work for artists such as Algiers, Twin Peaks and Sleater Kinney.
The exhibition will be housed at Bloom Building for the duration of the festival and Toucan Tango will be creating limited edition new artwork for the festival which will also be available.
