We are looking to recruit new Bar and Kitchen Team members to work on our wide range of live music events at our venue on Argyle Street, Birkenhead.
Future Yard are looking for a mix of experienced hospitality professionals and casual bar tenders to join our team. The successful individuals will also join our team of bar tenders, working across our events programme.
This is a unique opportunity to join the team at one of the UK’s most exciting new music venues. With a bar, coffee shop, live venue, vegetarian kitchen and garden open seven days a week, we have played host to artists such as Gruff Rhys, OMD, Black Country New Road, Nubiyan Twist, Shame, Melt Yourself Down, Bodega and many more, with a programme encompassing the best in contemporary alternative, jazz, electronic and experimental music.
THE ROLE
We are looking to add to our Bar and Kitchen Team to deliver our food and drink operation across our programme of live music, special events and during regular opening hours.
On our bar, you will prepare and serve a range of drinks from across our broad selection of draught and canned craft beers, all from local independent suppliers. You will serve wines, cocktails and spirits, plus a range of high-quality non-alcoholic options. You will also serve the best artisan coffee. You will be knowledgeable and interested to learn about our products, sharing this knowledge with customers. If working in our kitchen, you will prepare and serve our delicious range of vegetarian and vegan street food.
A number of applicants with relevant experience will take on additional tasks focusing on our back-of-house operations. A candidate with experience working within or managing beer cellars is preferred but not essential. There will be scope in these roles to move in to a more senior supervisor position with the F+B team.
You will receive full training in whichever areas of the business you work. You will be warm, friendly and engaging with customers. You’ll also be happy to share information about upcoming events and programmes at the venue.
You will carry out your activities in a busy, high energy, fast-paced and fun environment.
You may specialise on either the bar or kitchen. We are also keen to employ those who are up for diversifying their skills and working across both areas.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
We’re not necessarily looking for people with food and drink experience – though if you do have some that would be desirable – we’re mainly keen to bring people into the Future Yard family who are passionate about what we do, who love live music, are driven to deliver excellence in what they do, love hospitality and are keen to develop their skills.
We are particularly interested in people who are open to working across bar, barista and kitchen roles. Our ideal candidate may see themselves primarily as a bar tender, but would be equally keen to develop some new skills in our kitchen, if the opportunity arises. Equally, if you would prefer to concentrate on being brilliant at a single discipline, that’s fine.
As a member of the Future Yard family you will benefit from a range of bonuses, including: free entry to selected Future Yard shows, staff yoga and mindfulness opportunities, training and social events, our cycle to work scheme, paid training, ongoing development opportunities and a range of staff discounts.
Future Yard is a non-profit, Community Interest Company. We have been established to utilise the power of music to bring about meaningful change in Birkenhead, running a range of training, artist development and community programmes alongside our brilliant live music schedule. We are keen to work with people who share our vision of a dynamic community music venue and are driven to deliver excellence, every time we open our doors.
You will be at the heart of a small, passionate team working in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for people with excellent organisational skills, who can manage and prioritise their workload independently, while communicating clearly and effectively with their team, colleagues, visiting artists, crew and promoters.
We are looking for individuals who share Future Yard’s values and have:
- A love of live music and passion for delivering fantastic customer service
- Bar, kitchen or barista experience is preferred, but not essential
- Prior of experience of beer cellar management preferred, but not essential
- An openness to broadening their skills and work in new areas (preferred)
- An appetite to work in a fast-paced, busy environment
- Great team working skills, flexibility and an appetite to continually develop your skills
- Excellent communication skills
- You will be a well organised, disciplined self-starter
If your application is successful, you will be invited for a first stage interview. First stage interviews will take place between 20th February and 10th March.
Applications must be made via the application form linked below.
