Are you super organised, passionate about music and love working with people? We are on the lookout for a Skills + Learning Programmes Manager to oversee the operational management and administration of our exciting music education programmes, including the high-energy world of Mosh Tots, the youth-powered creativity of New Noise and our brand new, dynamic schools programme.

From coordinating band clubs and instrumental lessons to organising New Noise sessions, planning and supporting Mosh Tots shows and liaising with schools, you will be able to handle public facing comms as well as keeping everything ticking behind the scenes. Essentially, you’ll be right at the heart of making the magic happen.

You’ll oversee the day-to-day management of our Skills + Learning offer – coordinating schedules, supporting freelance practitioners, liaising with schools and families, managing systems and ensuring every session, showcase and trip is delivered to a high standard. You’ll balance logistics with creativity, systems with people and spreadsheets with stage time.

If you’re someone who loves spreadsheets and sound checks, can balance logistics with people skills and thrives in a fast-paced, creative environment, we want to hear from you.

Not sure if you have the skills but think that you might have the potential? We’ll help you get there – just get in touch!

This is a unique opportunity to join the team at one of the UK’s most exciting new music organisations. Since fully opening in the summer of 2021, we have played host to artists such as Nadine Shah, Anna Calvi, Gruff Rhys, OMD, Doves, Black Country New Road, Everything Everything, English Teacher, Sugarhill Gang, The Zutons, Nubiyan Twist, Shame, Melt Yourself Down, Dry Cleaning, The Coral, Bodega and many more, with a programme encompassing the best in contemporary alternative, jazz, electronic and experimental music.

Future Yard is committed to providing a range of pathways for local young people to develop the skills needed to embark on careers within the live music industry.

As a member of the Future Yard family you will benefit from a range of bonuses, including: free entry to all Future Yard shows, training and social events, our cycle to work scheme, paid training, ongoing development opportunities and a brilliant range of staff discounts.

Future Yard takes its safeguarding responsibilities to children and vulnerable adults very seriously and is committed to providing a safe environment for all who walk through our doors. We expect all our staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

We are looking for a methodical, values-driven and collaborative professional who is passionate about music and believes deeply in access, inclusion and the power of creative learning.

You’re not just organised – you take pride in building systems that work. You care about quality, sustainability and people. You’re confident taking ownership, but you’re equally comfortable rolling up your sleeves and getting stuck in.

We are particularly looking for an individual who shares Future Yard’s values and who is:

  • An operational leader – You can take ownership of multiple programmes, ensuring they are well-planned, clearly communicated and delivered to a consistently high standard.
  • A brilliant organiser – You love a well-structured schedule, accurate registers, clear processes and forward planning. You anticipate challenges before they become problems.
  • A supportive manager – You can coordinate and support freelance practitioners, ensuring they feel briefed, valued and aligned with our quality and safeguarding expectations.
  • Safeguarding confident – You understand the importance of safeguarding and inclusive practice, and you’re ready to play a key role in embedding this across all provision.
  • Financially aware – You’re comfortable monitoring income and expenditure, tracking subscriptions and fees, and understanding how delivery, capacity and income connect.
  • A systems thinker – You enjoy improving workflows, digital tools and administrative systems to create efficient, effective ways of working.
  • An excellent communicator – Whether speaking with a school leader, emailing a parent, collaborating with marketing colleagues or representing Future Yard externally, you communicate clearly, warmly and professionally.
  • A relationship builder – You can develop and maintain strong relationships with schools, partners, practitioners and families, always reflecting our inclusive and community-led ethos.
  • Calm under pressure – Events, showcases and live programmes don’t always go to plan, but you stay solution-focused and grounded.
  • Values-led and inclusive – You actively champion accessibility, diversity and participation, ensuring our programmes are welcoming and responsive to the communities we serve.
  • Passionate about music and culture – You believe in the transformative power of music and understand the role cultural spaces like Future Yard play in community life.
  • A disciplined self-starter – You can manage your own workload, prioritise effectively and contribute positively to a collaborative team.
  • Loves music and creative learning – You don’t need to be a musician, but you get why music matters and believe in the value of creative education.
  • Social media savvy – You understand how to capture and share great moments from our programmes, and you’re confident using online platforms to celebrate our work and engage our community.
  • Event confident – You’re comfortable supporting and leading events or eager to build experience in this area.

Don’t tick every box? If you’re enthusiastic, capable, and willing to learn, we still want to hear from you.
