Dream Wife | Future Yard

We’re delighted to welcome celebrated rock trio Dream Wife to Future Yard, ticking off one of our most sought after artists to come and play a live show here. Off the back of 2023’s acclaimed album Social Lubrication, Rakel, Alice and Becca have been ripping up dancefloors at venues across the UK, Europe and the US. With the release of a new single for IWD 2024, they’re ready to hit the road again with a run of Autumn shows.

Tickets on sale Wednesday 13th March.

London-based trio Dream Wife – vocalist Rakel Mjöll (she/her), guitarist Alice Go (she/her), bassist Bella Podpadec (they/them) – released their electrifying third album, Social Lubrication, last Summer via Lucky Number to critical acclaim. The release was followed by a tour across the US, Europe and the UK/IE, including performing at Pitchfork Paris and their biggest London show to date, at Electric Brixton.

To celebrate International Women’s Day on 8th March, they shared a cover of t.A.T.u.’s All The Things She Said, which was recorded during the Social Lubrication European leg of the tour. Of the release the band says, “The legacy of All The Things She Said is a total paradox – being both one of the most high profile examples of queerbaiting in pop culture and also one of the only positive depictions of same sex attraction us and our peers came across as youngsters. That and… it’s also an undeniable bop and every time we play it live it absolutely pops off!”

Dream Wife have come a long way since their 2018 self-titled debut. Their last album, smashed the Official UK Top 20 album charts (the only indie album recorded and produced by all women at the time to do so), and earned them universal praise and countless sold-out shows Alongside their accolades, however, Dream Wife have always advocated for upholding the community on a truly ground level and paying it forward. Proceeds from direct digital sales of So When You Gonna… went to Black Minds Matter and Gendered Intelligence. In 2021, the band released a megamix for Rainbow Mind, a mental health charity for LGBTQIA people, with contributions from Shirley Manson, The Big Moon, Big Joanie and Girli among others.
