Independent Venue Week 2025

The greatest week in all the land returns to Future Yard for a fifth year running, as we once again participate in Independent Venue Week – running from 27th Jan to 2th Feb 2025. Following an instant sell-out from The Zutons and packed out shows from the likes of Hinds, CVC and The Kairos, plus the return to the stage with our favourite Wirral-heads Hooton Tennis Club, last year’s IVW may be hard to beat; but we’re going to give it a heck of a good go…

Furiously fun noise / punk outfit led by the one and only Danny Nedelko; Heavy Lungs bring raw, loud and uncompromising energy to their shows taking influence from the rowdy and liberating gigs of the 80s and 90s. Rising brutally fast from the get-go, they have shared stages with comrades IDLES, The Oh Sees, METZ, JOHN and more. Whether its tinnitus or a relentless earworm for days to come, a Heavy Lungs show is one to remember.

Radio 6’s very own Chris Hawkins comes to Birkenhead to present a special Independent Venue Week edition of Awesome Friends featuring some of the hottest new music around at Future Yard.

This all-day celebration is set to feature Seb Lowe, Freak Slug, Casino, Blue Dolphin Wranglers, Hello Cosmos + Thalia’s Grace – with Chris on hand to DJ though the day and guide you through the sets of your next favourite artists spanning genres but never quality.

Celebrating the spirit of independence + the culture of live music

Independent Venue Week is a seven-day celebration of music venues around the country and a nod to the people that own, run and work in them, week in, week out.

These venues give artists their first experience of playing live in front of an audience. They give fans somewhere to get up close to artists that one day, may well be playing stadiums and festival main stages. They also provide those wanting a career in music, off the stage, the chance to learn their craft up close in a small venue.

Independent Venue Week is unique in that it is a nationwide initiative with a completely local feel.
