Future Yard are excited to present multi-award-winning Grandmaster Flash for the first ever time in Birkenhead.
Born and raised in the South Bronx, Grandmaster Flash is inarguably one of Hip Hop’s original innovators.
In the early 1970s, Grandmaster Flash was the first DJ to use the turntable as a musical instrument by placing his fingers on the vinyl and perfecting beat looping. It’s no surprise that The New York Times calls him Hip Hop’s first virtuoso.
His determination to manipulate music led to innovations that changed the trajectory of Hip Hop music and culture: the Quik Mix Theory and the wafer – or what is now commercially known as the slipmat.
Today, he’s the voice of an entire generation of 1970s Hip Hop pioneers and reminds us of that decades influence through his tours, weekly livestreams, lectures and other projects. Grandmaster Flash is at once a historian, a storyteller, and a cultural force

Made hot and fresh in-house each day, our pizzas use the best ingredients sourced from independent suppliers in Merseyside and beyond. The result is a classic Italian pizza handcrafted in Birkenhead, with a tasty new twist.
- All our pizzas are vegetarian and vegan friendly, available by the slice or a full 16″ pizza
- Kitchen open 3pm-9pm for this event. Usual opening hours are 5-9pm on Fridays + Saturdays, plus all show days

VENUE INFO
Future Yard is open every day from 10am – so you can stop by for a coffee or a pre-show drink in our bar area whenever you like. Our pizza kitchen is open on weekends and before every gig, 5-9pm.
The live room doors open at 7:30pm (this is separate from our bar area), and music starts at 7:45pm. Live curfew is 10:30pm. The bar is open after the show.

Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. We cannot issue refunds to under 16s who are not accompanied by an adult.
Future Yard is a cashless venue – all payments are taken by contactless or chip and pin. Live curfew 11pm.
