TATE + FUTURE YARD PRESENTS

We are extremely proud to be working with Tate Liverpool to present Selector – a brand new collaboration that will merge the worlds of contemporary art and contemporary music. The series will launch with Turner Prize-winning artist Mark Leckey guest curating a range of events between 10th and 13th June, including an artist ‘In Conversation’ talk and three fascinating live events, under the title of Music From The Age Of Spiritual Machines.

Selector will explore the musical inspirations on Mark Leckey’s work, through conversation and performance, celebrating the influence music has on his art. Since the latter half of the 20th Century the relationship between music and art in contemporary culture has become increasingly entwined. Artists across genres are inspiring each other, breaking boundaries and experimenting with their practices. Selector is an opportunity to witness these artistic collisions, in a shared, immersive experience.

aya

Huddersfield born, London based artist aya centres her work with the transfigurative power of experience and memory on the physical body.

Her most recent album hexed! was released on Hyperdub and was nominated as The Quietus’ Album Of The Year for 2025. The album confronts the depression and dysfunction of addiction haunting the golden hours that were romanticised on her debut album im hole.

“ON HER THRILLING SECOND ALBUM, AYA’S ABRASIVE MIX OF TECHNO, UK BASS, NOISE AND INDUSTRIAL BECOMES A SURGICAL TOOL FOR EXPLORATIONS OF TRAUMA AND IDENTITY” - THE QUIETUS

RAINY MILLER

Rainy Miller is the solo project of Preston-born, Manchester-based artist, producer and label head Jack Bowes, whose work exists in a space where raw emotion meets atmospheric soundscapes. Focused on spotlighting the vibrant emerging scene of the North West of England, Rainy founded his label Fixed Abode in 2020 as a platform to showcase the wealth of local talent.

Creating deeply personal music that marries fragile, delicate moments with visceral, aggressive energy, Rainy is carving his own path to recognition. Following his debut project Desquamation (2022), Rainy released the critically acclaimed full-length via his own Fixed Abode imprint — A Grisaille Wedding (2023) — featuring collaborations with the likes of Mica Levi, Coby Sey and Voice Actor, amongst others.

"RAINY MILLER CONTINUES TO CRAFT A UNIQUE SONIC UNIVERSE WHERE EXPERIMENTAL CLUB MUSIC INTERTWINES WITH ATMOSPHERIC SOUNDSCAPES AND REFLECTIVE SONGWRITING" - CRACK MAGAZINE

YEAH YOU

Father daughter duo, Gustav Thomas and Elvin Brandhi, based in Newcastle and Vienna who let music invade the family context, and have been known to make noise-pop out of field recordings taken in Ikea car parks. Their sound is defined as lo-fi noise pop, often leaning on dirty beats and heavily distorted miniature heavily distorted miniature synthesisers to create a bed for Brandhi to loose her stream-of-consciousness lyrics over. Improvised music doesn’t come much more raw.
