Sustainable Travel Month

Go green and travel sustainably to Future Yard in April 2024

April is designated as Sustainable Travel Month down here on Argyle Street, where we are encouraging our audience to use public transport or bike to travel to events and shows here. This is part of our ongoing effort to become a carbon neutral operation, and forms part of a whole programme of activity we have planned for the year.

When we take into account our Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, we’re aware that the biggest contributor to our carbon footprint is travel by customers, staff and suppliers in getting to and from the venue. As Future Yard is ideally situated between three train stations and a major bus station, we think we can help to massively reduce this carbon footprint by encouraging more sustainable travel methods.

To highlight all these options, we’ve got plenty lined up in April to help you make your trip to Future Yard even greener…

TRAIN

Our location on Argyle Street is handily placed between three train stations (Hamilton Square, Conway Park and Birkenhead Central), which makes us one of the best connected venues in the region. We’re delighted to be teaming up with Merseyrail once again to offer free rail travel to selected Future Yard shows during April. After running a similar and very successful pilot in October last year, we’re happy to be offering free return train tickets to Birkenhead stations around four shows in April. This offer applies for the following shows – Izo FitzRoy – 03.04.24 / Boston Manor – 10.04.24 / Huey Morgan’s NYC Block Party – 19.04.24 / MELTS – 24.04.24 – for further details click on the link below.

RIDE

Getting on your bike and cycling down to Future Yard is starting to get more appealing now that the weather is turning. And don’t forget, people who cycle to Future Yard receive 10% off food and drink! We are also hosting a group bike ride prior to one show this month, to highlight how simple, fun and healthy it is to cycle to and from Future Yard. Details TBC, but the ride will start in Birkenhead Park and will end up at Future Yard in time for that evening’s show.

BUS

With Birkenhead Bus Station just a 5-minute walk from our front door (plus Woodside and numerous bus stops), our venue is also very well served by bus routes. Which makes it doubly handy that we have also teamed up with Arriva to offer discounted bus travel for Future Yard customers during the whole of April. Ticket holders to shows at Future Yard can get return travel to Birkenhead stations for just £2, a saving of well over 50%. See below for further details.
