What Are Band Clubs?

A real band. A real stage. A completely different way to experience music.

Future Yard Band Clubs give young people the chance to experience what it really feels like to be in a band.

Each week, small groups come together with a professional Band Coach to play instruments, learn songs, find their sound and make music together.

But Future Yard Band Clubs are about much more than learning an instrument.

Young people learn to listen to each other, contribute ideas, solve problems, take creative risks and work towards something they can be proud of together. As their confidence and skills grow, they take more ownership of their band, choosing music, creating arrangements, writing original material and developing their own musical identity.

And there’s something powerful to work towards.

Every Band Club gets the opportunity to perform on a real stage at Future Yard at least three times a year, alongside opportunities to perform in school for friends, families and their wider school community.

From the first jam to the first song, the first gig to creating original music, pupils progress through meaningful experiences, unlock achievements that build musicianship, confidence, creativity, collaboration and independence.

There are no auditions and pupils don’t need to already play an instrument. Band Clubs give young people the space to discover what they can do and what they can create together.

From first jam to owning the stage, this is music education that feels like being in a real band.
