BAR + COFFEE SHOP

Future Yard open seven days a week

As well as being your friendly neighbourhood music venue, we’re also your friendly neighbourhood bar + coffee shop. And we’re open indoors and outdoors, all day every day. Now it’s even easier for you to join us for a drink or a bite to eat, without the need for constantly watching weather forecasts!

Now that  COVID-19 restrictions in England have been lifted, we invite you inside to experience our fresh new bar + kitchen. We’ve been dying for you to come indoors and get a taste of the full Future Yard experience, and now you can do that with us. If you’ve already been here to see us then you’ll have seen the lush greenery that adorns the space – so you’ll already have an idea of how relaxing the space is going to be for an afternoon latte or a few pints of Yard Pilsner as the sun sets over Birkenhead.

Serving a full range of coffee, beers and cocktails, our indoor bar area has ample space to welcome you. We’ll have DJs setting the vibe on Friday and Saturday nights – either from the raised indoor booth or outside in the pink shipping container in the garden – and a great range of vegan and vegetarian food served by Hardy’s (see food service times below). Through the daytimes we’ll also have a range of pastries, sandwiches and sausage rolls on offer courtesy of Two Pesky Vegans, plus brownies and cakes from Cookies by Cal + Jen.

*Also available – BURGER AND A BEV! Get a burger, seasoned fries and a drink for just £10. Offer available before 6pm Thursday-Sunday. See below for further details.*

Our Garden will still be accessible for those who want to go outside and catch some rays on the bleachers – you’ve now got even more time to enjoy it (and a place to go if the rain tries to spoil the party!). And our live room is also open for live gigs (remember them?!). We’re now able to host shows at full capacity in our live room, and we’re so looking forward to hearing that crank back into action again. You can find all of our live listings here – and they’re all up on the listings board in the bar area.

We have updated our COVID-19 operating proceedings to keep things as safe as possible with the lifting of restrictions. Please read all of these details here.

We can’t wait for you to finally be joining us in the building; we’ve been rattling around the building for the last 12 months, so we’re long overdue some company! Anyone for a Schöfferhofer and a side of halloumi bites?

Bar + Coffee Shop @ Future Yard

POURING

  • A superb range of local craft beers and brews, from the likes of Glen Affric, Chapter Brewing, Black Lodge, Cloudwater, Top Rope, Neptune Brewing.
  • Great coffee from incredible roasteries working closely with farmers, and teas made with 100% natural ingredients.
  • An extensive range of soft drinks and fruit presses.
  • Refreshing summer cocktails.

We’re keeping our suppliers as close to home as possible. Partly because of our commitment to keep our carbon footprint as low as possible, but also because there are so many incredible independent brewers, roasters and bakers on our doorstep!

Glen Affric are a craft brewery situated a stone’s throw from Future Yard, and have been brewing award-winning beers from their Birkenhead home for the past five years. We’ve teamed up with them on our house beer, Yard Pilsner – a classic pilsner with a biscuit malt body and zesty citrus layers. Black Lodge are based in the Baltic Triangle and specialise in adventurous and distinctive brews; and Chapter Brewing are experts in hopcraft and storytelling, which they produce from their base in Sutton Weaver in Cheshire. We’ll be mixing up our beers regularly, so you’ll have to check back in to see what’s on offer. Or have a look at the Currently Pouring board in the bar whenever you’re inside with us.

Our coffee will be served fresh from a gleaming new La Marzocco machine (😍) which puts out some of the most beautifully consistent espresso you can get. Our house espresso is currently a blend of Brazilian and Guatemalan by the brilliant Axis Coffee. Chris from Axis has been working in coffee for 12 years; since starting Axis, he has a tree planted for every bag bought, and all their coffees are bought with an additional premium on on top, which is donated to social initiatives in their +20% Programme. We’ll be getting the best milk in from local dairy Peckforton Farm, while Bates Dairy will be supplying us with an oat milk alternative. Almond and coconut milk varieties are also on offer (Alpro). Filter coffee is available as batch brew, Chemex, or Aeropress. Currently we have two filters by our neighbours just through the tunnel, Neighbourhood Cofffee, and we’ll be updating our guest filters on a regular basis.

For the easy goers, drivers and people just chilling, we’re stocked up with a massive range of teas, fruit presses and soft drinks – because not everyone wants a caffeine or alcohol hit in the sun. Our range of teas comes from ZIGZAG, so you can sip on an Earl Grey, a zesty Yunnan Green or a good old fashioned English Breakfast tea. Punchy produce a range of characterful, natural punches that will still give you a little boost – and a percentage of proceeds from each sale are donated to charities through Punchy’s brilliant sustainability arm. We’ll also have kombuchas and iced teas to pick from – and for those who want a halfway house, Schöfferhofer’s 2.5% ABV grapefruit wheat beer will be served on draught.

Garden at Future Yard - Hardy's

SERVING

  • A great menu of vegan and vegetarian food, served from our brand new kitchen by foodie experts Hardy’s.
  • Platters of cakes, pastries and sweet treats, baked freshly by Two Pesky Vegans.

We want to serve a range of food for you to eat on the go, while relaxing with a cuppa, or before you head inside for a gig. In keeping with our environmental sustainability pledge, all of our food offers are vegan and vegetarian, sourced from some brilliant local providers.

Hardy's Big Dub Of Love at Future Yard Garden

Hardy’s have years of experience in creating bespoke, tantalising menus, and we’re made up that they’ll be serving up all of our food offer at Future Yard. Their Big Dub Of Love food truck has been serving up some incredible plates from their position in the Garden already this summer, and we’re made up to be extending that offer indoors as well now that our new indoor kitchen is up and running. From burgers to cauliflower ‘wings’, from halloumi to couscous, your mouth will be given a real treat. And you’re going to adore the Cauli Bombs – we apologise in advance for your addiction!

Kids are welcome, so long as they’re with big kids (18+)! We’re a family-friendly environment, and we have high chairs and baby-changing facilities. We’ll also be stocking some lovely child-friendly drinks and food options.

BURGER AND A BEV

We’re now running a burger and a drink offer where you can get one of our amazing burgers with seasoned fries plus a drink for just £10. The offer is available before 6pm, Thursday-Sunday (kitchen opening hours: Thurs-Fri 5pm-9pm; Sat-Sun 12pm-9pm). And we’re introducing two brand new tasty burgers to the menu for you to try out…

Dub Mac
Beyond Burger vegan patty, homemade Dub Mac sauce, crispy shallots, shredded iceberg, caramelised onions, American cheese (or vegan cheese slice), gherkins and ketchup. Served in a brioche or vegan bun.

Birkenhead BadBoy
Thai flavoured chickpea + mixed bean burger in a spicy panko crumb, crispy onions, sriracha mayo with a zingy fresh Thai slaw. Served in a brioche or vegan bun.

Choose from either of these burgers along with seasoned fries, and complete your meal with a drink: a pint of Yard Pilsner; house spirit + mixer; a glass of house wine; or a soft drink.

ACCESS + IMPORTANT INFO

75 Argyle Street, Birkenhead
CH41 6AB

Future Yard’s bar + coffee shop is open seven days a week. On Mondays to Thursdays we’ll be open from 9am to 11pm; on Fridays and Saturdays we’ll be open 9am-12am; and Sundays will be open 10am-11pm. We will not be taking any advance bookings – tables will be allocated on arrival, first come, first served. Please see specific times for kitchen service.
We know that people like to make plans in advance – and we all have one friend in the group whose organisation skills are the glue that holds it together! But with the prospect of no-shows and the fact that we’re just getting started, we just can’t take any reservations. But fear not, because we’ve got loads of room and loads of tables between our indoor bar and outside Garden spaces, so we’re sure we’ll be able to fit you in.

We are operating a fully cashless service. Service and payment is done at one of our three bars, with all food orders placed at the front bar. Staff will also be on hand to assist with taking orders.
We know that some people will be happy to go back to the old style way of ordering your drinks at the bar – and with bars in the front lobby, garden and live room, you won’t be waiting long. All food orders will be placed at the front bar, with a buzzer given to you which will ring when your food is ready to collect from our new kitchen service point. All payments will be made by contactless or chip-and-pin on any of the bars.

Customers no longer have to wear a face covering or check in on arrival using the NHS COVID-19 (Test and Trace) app. But if you still wish to do either, we welcome and support that decision.
Our priority throughout the COVID-19 pandemic has bene the safety of our Future Yard community, and we’ve constantly reviewed and updated our procedures in line with the latest guidance. We appreciate that some people feel a bit of trepidation in returning to indoor settings with the new rules, and we support anyone who wishes to wear a mask when at Future Yard. Our staff are free to do the same, and we hope that everyone understands and respects the personal decisions made by and customer or member of staff. We will keep hand sanitation points throughout the venue and we encourage people to use them frequently. Any customers, audience members or staff who have coronavirus symptoms, live with those with symptoms or who have been advised by NHS Test And Trace to self-isolate must not attend the venue.

You can view and download our full risk assessment and operating procedures here.

Rest assured that all of these measures we’re putting in place are for your safety and comfort, and for the safety of our staff. When you arrive, all of this will be explained to you by one of our friendly staff members.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation. We genuinely hope you can come along and relax and have a boss time here with us, and we’re pretty sure that you’ll feel at home as soon as you’re sat down. If you have any further questions then you can get in touch with us on enquiries@futureyard.org – but we won’t answer any emails asking about booking a table!

See you soon, and stay safe.
