We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, community-driven individual to the new role of Audience Development + Neighbourhood Outreach Officer.
As a community music venue, skills + training hub and pillar of the community, Future Yard must engage with a diverse range of audiences and participants across all aspects of our work. To ensure that we are delivering on the impact we set out to achieve – namely, that music can change the world – we need to maintain high levels of awareness and visibility within our local community, and continually find new audiences who share our beliefs.
These may be live music fans, local young people who want to embark on a career in the music industry, residents and representative groups in Birkenhead, or families who want to enjoy music together. You will work with the wider Audiences team in helping to reach these new audiences, and to develop existing audiences through a new membership/patrons scheme.
You will work across all aspects of Future Yard’s programmes, playing a key role in connecting this work to people who will get the most out of it. You will develop and deepen these connections by engaging regularly with key partner organisations, audience groups and through administering our Neighbourhood Ticket Scheme, supported by our Director of Audiences and Marketing + Outreach Manager.
This is a unique opportunity to join the team at one of the UK’s most exciting new music organisations. Since fully opening in the summer of 2021, we have played host to artists such as Nadine Shah, Anna Calvi, Gruff Rhys, OMD, Doves, Black Country New Road, Everything Everything, English Teacher, The Zutons, Nubiyan Twist, Shame, Melt Yourself Down, Dry Cleaning, The Coral, Bodega and many more, with a programme encompassing the best in contemporary alternative, jazz, electronic and experimental music.
Future Yard is committed to providing a range of pathways for local young people to develop the skills needed to embark on careers within the live music industry.
As a member of the Future Yard family you will benefit from a range of bonuses, including: free entry to all Future Yard shows, training and social events, our cycle to work scheme, paid training, ongoing development opportunities and a brilliant range of staff discounts.
Future Yard takes its safeguarding responsibilities to children and vulnerable adults very seriously and is committed to providing a safe environment for all who walk through our doors. We expect all our staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-starting individual at the start of their career to undertake this role. Ideally you will have some knowledge of music, music venues or some of Future Yard’s programmes, although candidates with transferable and appropriate knowledge from other sectors are also encouraged to apply.
We are particularly looking for an individual who shares Future Yard’s values and is/has:
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to brilliantly articulate and present Future Yard’s vision
- The versatility to build and maintain relationships with a range of collaborators and community partners
- Brilliant people skills and the ability to confidently present to community groups, stakeholders and potential new participants and audiences
- A strong sense of community and an appetite to engage with diverse groups
- Excellent organisational skills and an eye for detail
- A passion for the power of culture and a deep interest in music
- Great team working skills, flexibility and an appetite to continually develop
- A valid driving licence and access to a car would be desirable, but not essential
- You will be a well organised, disciplined self-starter
