Pat Nevin World Cup

Pat Nevin World Cup

Come and take part in our annual 5-a-side charity football tournament, named in honour of one of Tranmere Rovers’ favourite sons! Pat Nevin is as suave off the pitch as his skills were smooth on it. A model of the perfect footballer, Nevin is a competitor, a thinker, a crafty winger with great music taste who is not afraid to use his platform to espouse his values of social justice.

The Pat Nevin World Cup is a regular tournament that is open to all friends and allies of Future Yard. It’s your chance to pull on our boots and have a bit of fun, with an award for Goal Of The Tournament as equally prized as the winning trophy. The PNWC was first held in December 2022 during the men’s World Cup in Qatar, with NACE C Milan winning the inaugural tournament.

And we’d like you – our audience, neighbours, bands, supporters, staff and partners – to enter a team in to the tournament. Matches will be 5-a-side and played on outdoor all-weather 4G pitches. Entry to the tournament is £40 per team (payable via bank transfer in advance or cash on the day of the tournament.), with a recommended squad size of 8 (up to a maximum of 10).

The tournament will be held on Sunday 14th January 2024, with the first games kicking off at 11:30am.

All the action will take place at Birkenhead Youth Club on Watson Street. Changing rooms are available. Awards for the Player of the Tournament and Best Goal will take place back at Future Yard after the action.

All proceeds raised from the event will support Future Yard’s Neighbourhood campaign, providing free tickets, training, and community music activities for the most disadvantaged communities in Birkenhead.
